DUI—Officers arrested Jessica Earnshaw, 44 yoa, for driving under the influence. Officers had responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically on the roadway and found Earnshaw to be the driver, and under the influence of alcohol.

Liquor Law Violation—Officers had advised an individual earlier in the night that he were too intoxicated to enter any more liquor establishments for the rest of the night. Approximately 30 minutes later, officers were advised that the man had re-entered the liquor establishment. Officers charged the subject with Drunk Person on a Licensed Premise.

Assault—Officers responded to a report of a physical altercation between two individuals. Officers interviewed multiple witnesses. This case is currently under investigation.

Animal—Officers responded to a report of an unattended Husky walking around the parking lot of a local grocery store. Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate the dog.

Assault—An individual came up to Public Safety to report a possible assault that had occurred. It was explained to officers that there had been an altercation between roommates that resulted in a roommate being lightly shoved. The roommate making the report did not want to press charges.

Animal—The Animal Control Officer responded to a report of two loose dogs running in the area of General’s Hill. Ultimately, the ACO was unable to locate the dogs.

Fire Safety—Fire personnel responded to a report of a large amount of black smoke originating from a burn pile near Strawberry Hill. Shortly before the report, a local company had called to notify Public Safety they be beginning their approved, controlled burn. Fire personnel responded to the location of the burn pile and found all was well, and in compliance with stipulations listed on the permit.

Fraud—Officers spoke with an individual who believed he may be getting scammed by one of the local internet service providers. Officers documented the incident, but ultimately found the issue to be civil in nature, and advised the individual to possibly pursue civil action through the court.

Traffic Crime—Officers responded to report of a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Strawberry Hill. Officers contacted the drivers of several vehicles matching the description, but were ultimately unsuccessful in finding the offending driver.

Animal—While on patrol, officers observed a dead fox in the roadway. Officers collected the dead animal and brought it back to the station to be taken to the landfill in the morning.

Fire Safety—Officers responded to check on a possible unattended bonfire near a local cannery. Upon arrival, officers found only burning embers. The security team for the cannery was also contacted, and they agreed to fully douse the embers.

Officers received several descriptions of the individual and multiple locations where the individual could possibly be found, and where the individual had been spotted during the day. Officers were also told the individual was last seen leaving the clinic. Ultimately the individual was found at a local hotel.

Officers were able to determine that the individual lived on a boat, and were able to assist the individual in to a taxi to get them back to the boat. Officers then followed the taxi to ensure the individual boarded the vessel safely.

MVA-Damage—Officers responded to a report of a minor motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers found that a vehicle had been hit on the back passenger side of the vehicle. This occurred because vehicles were unable to slow down due to the slippery conditions of the roadway. The vehicle slowed to turn, and was cut off by the offending vehicle, causing the vehicles to collide. The offending driver was cited.

Fire Response—Firefighters responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in which fluids were leaking from the vehicles. However, it was later found that the report had been a misunderstanding due to a language barrier, and there were in fact no fluids leaking from the vehicles. The fire response was quickly cancelled.

Officers spoke with the victim who stated they had been shoved while attempting to exit the post office. They believed the assault had stemmed from recent events that had taken place. The victim wanted to ensure the alleged assailant would no longer contact them. The assailant was advised of this and also stated they wished to have no contact with the victim either.

MVA-Damage—Officers received a report of a possible motor vehicle accident that had occurred. Upon arrival officers were told that the victim’s vehicle had been hit at some point during the night and that the damage had been noticed this morning. Officers contacted several people, and eventually contacted the responsible party. Both the responsible party and the victim wished to settle the issue civilly.

Animal—Officers responded to a report of an eagle trapped on a fishing vessel. The eagle response team on the island was also contacted and responded as well. The eagle was safely escorted off the vessel.

Animal—Officers responded to a report of a dog attacking children in the valley. Upon arrival, officers were able to secure the dog and took pictures of the minor injuries to the children. Officers contacted the owner and initiated 10 day quarantine.
