The Patrol Division consists of four Sergeants, nine Patrol Officers, and an Animal Control Officer.

S2 Acting Sergeant Taumaoe Malaki

The Unalaska Department of Public Safety hired officer Tau Malaki in July 2017 as a Corrections Officer, where she served until 2019. At that time, she was hired on as a Police Officer. Officer Malaki was promoted to Acting Sergeant in July 2023. Acting Sergeant Malaki currently holds a Basic Police Certificate through the Alaska Police Standards Council.

S3 Acting Sergeant Curran Chapman

Officer Curran Chapman joined the Unalaska Department of Public Safety in 2021. He graduated from ALET 21-02 Police Academy in Sitka, Alaska on November 12, 2021. Officer Chapman has a Basic Police Certificate from the Alaska Police Standards Council. Prior to coming to Unalaska, Officer Chapman attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where he played College Football and pursued a degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Chapman takes pride in helping to provide quality public safety services to the community of Unalaska. Officer Chapman was promoted to Acting Sergeant in July 2023.

Officer Grant Dowty

Officer Grant Dowty joined the Unalaska Department of Public Safety in 2021. He graduated from the Police Academy ALET Class 22-01 on June 25, 2022. Officer Dowty recently obtained a Basic Police Certificate through the Alaska Police Standards Council. Prior to coming to Unalaska, Officer Dowty attended Minot State University where he played College Baseball and pursued a degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Dowty is excited to protect and serve the citizens of Unalaska.

Officer Julian Govea

Officer Govea was hired as a Police Officer for Unalaska Public Safety in December of 2022. He graduated as Valedictorian of University of Alaska Fairbanks law enforcement academy in June of 2023. Officer Govea is a high achiever who is eager to help serve and protect the citizens of Unalaska. Prior to working as a Police Officer with Unalaska Public Safety, Officer Govea served the community as the Assistant Director of Safeway.

Officer Rigsby joined the Unalaska Police Division in June of 2023. Officer Rigsby brings with him 3 years of law enforcement experience with the City of Tallassee in Alabama. Officer Rigsby is looking forward to providing quality Public Safety services to the citizens of Unalaska.

U18 Carol Atonio

The Unalaska Department of Public Safety recruited Officer Carol Atonio in May of 2021 as a Corrections Officer. She spent 28 months with the Corrections Department until September of 2023 when she took an oath to become a Police Officer for the Unalaska Department of Public Safety. Carol Atonio proudly serves the Community of Unalaska and works diligently to ensure the safety and protection of the City of Unalaska citizens.
