Taxicab Transfer of Interest in a Permit or a Vehicle

TRANSFER OF INTEREST IN A PERMIT OR A VEHICLE

In order to sell, transfer, lease, assign, or otherwise grant any right of interest of 20% or more in or to a taxicab permit, the permit holder must obtain prior approval of the City Manager.  Such approval cannot be obtained without completion of an initial application by the person to whom the permit is being sold, transferred, leased, assigned, or otherwise granted in interest.  The permit holder must also demonstrate that the permit to be transferred and the current permit holder are in good standing and not subject to involuntary action for suspension, revocation, or denial or renewal of the permit. 

The prospective purchaser, transferee, lessee, assignee, or grantee of a permit or motor vehicle assigned to a permit must have a vested right to the permit or its transfer.  Such approval is within the discretion of the City Manager.
