Taxicab Application and Renewal Process
APPLICATION AND RENEWAL PROCESS
In order to apply for an initial taxicab permit, the application must complete the form provided by the City Clerk’s Office and must provide a certificate of insurance that indicating compliance with the insurance requirements stated in Unalaska Code of Ordinances §9.12.040(j). A non-refundable fee of $100 is due at the time the completed initial application is submitted.
The applicant must also provide the Department of Public Safety with a complete set of fingerprints of the applicant and its owner(s), partners, officers, directors, and members or shareholders owning 20% or more of the outstanding shares or membership interests of the entity.
The applicant must provide a copy of a current criminal history obtained within 30 days prior to the date of application reflecting the criminal history of the applicant and its owner(s), partners, officers, directors, and members or shareholders owning 20% or more of the outstanding shares or membership interests of the entity.
Completed applications for permit renewal must be submitted no later than 60 days before expiration and must include all of the above mentioned information along with a copy of a current vehicle inspection report and a current meter inspection report. A non-refundable fee of $100 is due at the time the completed renewal application is submitted.

QUALIFICATIONS OF AN APPLICANT
The applicant and its owner(s), partners, officers, directors, and members or shareholders owning 20% or more of the outstanding shares or membership interests of the applicant must be of good moral reputation and character and must have the following qualifications:

Not be addicted to or habituated to the use of alcoholic beverages or any other substance as defined in AS 11.71.140 – 190;

Have had no fellow conviction for 5 years immediately preceding the date of application and have had no conviction in the past 10 years for any felony or misdemeanor crime;

Be at least 21 years of age; and
-
Have filed a completed application for permit issuance or renewal.
