COMMERCIAL FLIGHT UPDATE – #2 - AMENDED TO REFLECT CORRECT FACEBOOK ADDRESS
Unalaska, Alaska, October 25, 2019, 9:00 a.m.
The following is an update on commercial flights servicing Unalaska.
The Mayor and City Council invite the public to a Special Meeting of the Unalaska City Council tonight from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at City Hall. Representatives from Alaska Airlines, Ravn and Grant Aviation will be participating telephonically. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the efforts taken to resume normal commercial flights.
City Officials are working diligently to facilitate viable options in response to the limited commercial flight service into and out of Unalaska. The City appreciates the creative efforts of community members in this challenging time.
Alaska Travel Source and Security Aviation have teamed up to provide three flights per week to Dutch Harbor on a temporary basis. Seats can be reserved through Alaska Travel Source at (907) 522-1299, or online at http://www.alaskatravelsource.com/. Alaska Travel Source operates weekdays between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All flights are subject to meeting a minimum passenger capacity requirement, and weather conditions. Passengers are limited to one, 40-pound bag, and one, smaller carry on item such as a purse or briefcase. Security Aviation will continue to offer full, on-demand charter service to its corporate clients. “We are doing our part to help the community of Dutch Harbor during this challenging time, and look forward to serving travelers until a longer term solution is identified,” said Joe Kapper, president of Security Aviation.
Another resource available to the community is a Facebook page called Unalaska Plane Charter Coordination (https://www.facebook.com/groups/684507905369193/).The purpose of this Facebook page is to act as clearinghouse for community members who are looking to book seats on existing charter flights or for those who want to communicate seat availability.
