About the PCR Committee
Welcome!
The Parks, Culture and Recreation (PCR) Committee is comprised of seven citizens selected by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. One of the members is a student from the Unalaska High School and has full voting rights. Additionally, the Parks and Recreation Director serves as an ex-officio member of the Committee. All Committee members, except the student representative, are required to be residents and qualified voters of the City of Unalaska.
The duties of the PCR Committee include:
- Advise and make recommendations to the City Council, City Manager, and Parks, Culture Director Recreation Director on community parks, culture and recreation services and programs.
- Make recommendations on policies for planning capital projects for the Department.
- Advise on management, care and control of public facilities by recommending adoption of rules and regulations governing user conduct and health safety, and maintenance standards for recreational facilities.
- Advise the administration concerning planning, design, and standards for open space and recreation facilities.
- Make recommendations on fiscal matters that pertain to the Department including the annual budget.
The PCR Committee typically meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Community Center and the public is encouraged to attend!
