Employee Benefits
Annual Travel Allowance
- $2,000 per year received in paycheck on or immediately following anniversary date.
Personal Leave Accrual Rates
- First and second years of service beginning on the date of hire and ending on the date before the second anniversary date: 16 hours per month.
- Third and fourth years of service beginning on the second anniversary date and ending on the day before the fourth anniversary date: 20 hours per month.
- Fifth and sixth years of service beginning on the fourth anniversary date and ending on the date before the sixth anniversary date: 24 hours per month.
- Seventh and eighth years of service beginning on the sixth anniversary date and ending on the date before the eighth anniversary date: 28 hours per month.
- Ninth year of service and beyond beginning on the eighth anniversary date and ending on the date of separation from City services: 32 hours per month.
- Must be employed 6 months before use of personal leave for non-medical reasons is allowed, without the prior approval of the City Manager
Holidays
- Nine (9) paid holidays per year: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
- Four (4) floating holidays per year. Floating holidays will accrue on Lincoln's Birthday, Seward’s Day, Juneteenth National Independence Day and Alaska Day.* Floating holidays do not accrue beyond the year they are accrued and must be used prior December 31.
*City Hall Union Employees have 3 floating holidays per year,
replacing Lincoln's Birthday, Seward's Day and Juneteenth National Independence Day.
Bereavement Leave
- Seven (7) days paid leave for death of immediate family members (employee’s spouse, child, father, step-father, mother, step-mother, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, step-child and domestic partner).
Health Insurance
- Medical, Dental, Vision & Audio
- 90/100 plan on Medical if PPO used
- No charge to employee to cover self or dependents
- Eligible for medical benefits on the first day of the month following the date of hire
- One year waiting period for pre-existing conditions if new employee cannot provide proof of previous coverage for 18 months without a lapse in coverage
- $50,000 life insurance policy included
Longevity Bonus
- Bonus plan begins on 3rd employment anniversary
- Plan differs for represented and unrepresented employees, and between various unions
Public Employees Retirement System (PERS)
- Tier I-III employee eligible from date of hire. Participation is mandatory for any employee budgeted for 30 hours or more per week. Employee contributes 6.75% pre-tax (7.75% for Police and Firefighters).
- Tier IV employees (hired on or after July 1, 2006) contribute 8% pre-tax
Term Life Insurance (optional)
- Additional life insurance offered through our health insurance company. Employees cover the expense of this coverage.
457 Plans (optional)
- ICMA-RC or Mutual of America. Employee can contribute $20,500 per year tax deferred. If an employee is 50 or older an additional $6,500 can be contributed. Contributions are made through payroll deduction.
AFLAC (optional)
- Voluntary additional medical insurance available to employee at own expense. AFLAC has Accident, Cancer, Hospitalization, Intensive Care and Dental Plans available for purchase. Benefits are paid directly to employee.
Direct Deposit
- Direct deposit is available to all employees for payroll checks.
