SALARY:              $31.63 -$33.55 / hour (Steps 1-3)
    
The City of Unalaska is accepting applications for the DMV Agent position. Located 50 miles from the Great Circle route, Unalaska, the 12th largest incorporated city in Alaska, is 800 miles southwest of Anchorage in the heart of the healthy and robust North Pacific/Bering Sea fisheries.  Our community is a vibrant mix of industry and history connected by 44 miles of roads linking our port, harbors, and private docks with local businesses and our thriving residential community of 4,250. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of the Public Safety Office Manager, this position is responsible for the local DMV office's day-to-day operations. The primary duties involve processing and issuing Alaska driver's licenses, state ID cards, motor vehicle titles, and registrations. Additionally, the position requires conducting driving tests for various vehicle types, including passenger, commercial, and motorcycle vehicles.
To ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with state regulations, the incumbent will maintain detailed records of all DMV transactions and regularly submit required reports to the Alaska DMV. Furthermore, the position involves bookkeeping tasks such as maintaining financial records and submitting reports to the Anchorage Department of Motor Vehicles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:  Ability to obtain certification with “Alaska Public Safety Information Network” (APSIN).  Ability to obtain Alaska Licensed Vehicle Information Network (ALVIN) certification.  Ability to obtain National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS) certification.  Ability to manage Problem Drivers Point System (PDPS).  Ability to operate Offender Based State Corrections Information System (OBSCIS).  Ability to utilize the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.  Must have a working knowledge of state driving and vehicle laws.  Basic accounting experience preferred.

LICENSES & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid Alaska Driver's License is required. No previous felony convictions. The position is within a secure facility, and the successful applicant is subject to a criminal records check, background investigation, and successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
