Press Release - City Manager Candidates
Four Applicants Selected as
Candidates for Unalaska City Manager
Unalaska, Alaska, January 16, 2018 – Mayor Frank Kelty and the Unalaska City Council are pleased to announce that four applicants have been selected as candidates for the position of City Manager for the City of Unalaska. In alphabetical order, the candidates are:
- Warren P. Brown, Director-Human Resources/Loss Prevention/Revenue Enhancement, Huron County, Norwalk, OH
- Jeffrey G. Causey, Director of Finance and Operations, Inter-Faith Council for Social Service, Carrboro, NC
- Erin W. Reinders, Assistant City Manager, City of Unalaska, Unalaska, AK
- Thomas E. Thomas, Former City Manager, City of Rock Island, Rock Island, IL
The Unalaska City Council will conduct in-person interviews on February 3 during a special meeting at times yet to be determined, at Unalaska City Hall. The Council will reconvene into an executive session on February 4 to deliberate and determine if an offer of employment will be extended to any of the candidates
Brown has served Huron County, OH since September, 2015. He previously served as Township Manager of Oakland Charter Township, Rochester, MI, as County Administrator of Sandusky County, Fremont, OH, and as the elected Clerk of Courts for Sandusky County. He worked in several positions in the criminal justice field earlier in his career. Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.
Causey has worked for Inter-Faith Council for Social Service since December, 2016. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer of the Durham Housing Authority, Durham, NC, as Assistant County Manager of Alamance County, Graham, NC, as Town Manager of Spencer, NC, and as Town Administrator of Richlands, NC. Mr. Causey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration degree. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Reinders has served the City of Unalaska as Assistant City Manager since December, 2015. She previously served Unalaska as Planning Director, and the City of Franklin, TN as Long Range Planning Supervisor, Principal Planner and City Planner. Ms. Reinders holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Anthropology and a Master of Arts degree in Urban Affairs and Public Policy. She is a Certified Public Manager.
Thomas served as Rock Island City Manager from September, 2011 to September, 2016. He previously served as Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Macon, GA, as Assistant County Administrator of the County of Dougherty, Albany, GA, and in several other positions in municipal government earlier in his career. Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration degree.
