Department of Public Safety is accepting applications for the position of Student Aide. The position is open until filled.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is closely supervised by a first line supervisor. The job will involve assisting staff with public safety-related community service projects; assisting with development of recruitment materials; assisting with basic animal control activities; equipment maintenance; light grounds maintenance; and other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Must have experience with basic office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and/or Access. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Applications with experience in basic publishing software strongly preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work assigned.

LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:   Must be at least 18 years of age. Possess a valid Alaska driver’s license.  Successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning work. Applicaints with certifications for CPR, EMT, FF-I or Euthanasia Technician strongly preferred.

This position is a temporary full-time position expected to begin June 18, 2018 and run through August 15, 2018.  This position will not accrue personal leave and is not eligible for medical or retirement benefits.

PAY RANGE:  $20.00 per hour                                               Temporary Full-time 

                                                                                                       

     Must present work authorization identification within 3 days of hire (INS requirement).
