POSITION:          STOREKEEPER I
WAGE:                $25.29 – $26.83 / hour [union position min- mid hiring range]

The City of Unalaska is accepting applications for the position of Storekeeper I in the Department of Public Works.  Located in the central Aleutian Islands, Unalaska, Alaska is a multicultural coastal community of approximately 4,500 full-time residents and is home to the number one commercial fishing port in the United States, the International Port of Dutch Harbor.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Storekeeper I is an entry-level position that, under the direct supervision of the Supply Division Supervisor, receives, stocks, and organizes and issues various materials.  The work involves several sequential steps in the receiving, stocking, and recording of inventory.   

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must have knowledge of filling out work orders, dispensing items, post to inventory control cards, and prepare inventory cards and boxes for new stock items and tag items. Must be capable of reorganizing for better accessibility, and have strong multitasking skills. Must have knowledge of how to safely operate a motor vehicle and forklift to facilitate the movement of materials on a limited basis. Must be capable to perform data entry of orders using inventory software and log fuel entries and assemble bill-out work order information using Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
College or a technical training with emphasis on inventory control, business, and/or computers preferred.
Experience operating a forklift and handling/transporting freight preferred. 
Other combination of experience that is relevant to perform the essential functions of the position will be evaluated on an individual basis.

LICENCES & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required to have, or be able to obtain, an Alaska Driver’s License within 90 days of hire.
Ability to pass all required pre-employment testing i.e. criminal background and work history and random drug testing.
Must be eligible to work in the US; meet employment requirement by Federal Law; if hired, must complete employment eligibility verification form (I-9).
